Surprisingly now E-commerce, AI & Virtual Reality, 3D Printing, Smart Fibers, Wearable Technology, Global Logistics & Short Delivery Time, Access to Global Anonymous Markets, Hyper Personal Marketing & Price Sensitivity has disrupted conventional Fashion Brands & Fashion Labels to small Fashion Boutiques’ customer base.
Surprisingly in past threats and weakness has always been converted into strength and opportunity with astonishing strategies and unbelievable convergence of disconnected innovation. MIFT has analyzed these astonishing strategies and unbelievable convergence of disconnected innovation for systematic planning, operation and control for 21st century fashion designers. MIFT has done extensive research to design a course to prepare relevant fashion students.
MIFT find out three missing skill set, which must be added in current fashion syllabus, 1st – Design Management, 2nd – Design Engineering and 3rd – Fashion Leadership. Fashion Design Management syllabus includes chapters on E-commerce, Different Business Models, Hyper Personal & Neuromarketing, Data analysis & Forecasting, consumer behavior and psychology mapping, Propaganda Techniques and Branding.
Fashion Leadership syllabus includes chapters on Influencing Skill, Rapport building, Event Management, Reputation Management, Future Community Design and Society Management with some technical skill such as Operation Management, Government Tax / Company Act , Accounting and Finance, Franchise & Retail Chain Management . Fashion Design Engineer syllabus includes chapters on smart clothing, Intelligent Clothing, E-Textiles, Smart Fabrics and Wearable Technology.
Conventional SWOT, PESTEL, Marketing MIX, Garment Cutting & Stitching, Fashion Illustration and Drawing, Embroidery and other 20th Century chapters must be given lesser credit weightage in fashion syllabus. Of course electives can be an option in Masters and PhD Level, for example if students want to study only embroidery; consequently career opportunity will become very narrow. MIFT Research suggest to incorporate 1st – Design Management, 2nd – Design Engineering and 3rd – Fashion Leadership in Fashion Diploma and Graduation Course.
