Career Counselling is bizarre thing in India. Market decides what a student should choose to study rather than student’s capability or passion. Trend of Engineering, MBA and IT has flourish due to job opportunities and social status. MIFT find in its analysis that many fashion and design students have already studied engineering, business or IT and then they decided to study fashion and design. The primary cause was pressure from family, bandwagon effect and ignorance. And many of students have spoiled years; many are drop out or failed from engineering, business and IT. Most of the talented students who want to study fashion and have the intellect and capability to be successful designer, become unsuccessful IT professional, engineer or business manager. How can we supply correct talent pool to fashion and design schools? ZARA the famous fashion brand do not give ad on TV as there design cycle is 10 to 20 days; ZARA design, make and sale a dress in 20 days on an average. On the other hand ecommerce such as Amazon ad can be seen on TV, Mobile and all other media platform. Does fashion give on job training on present need of market and industry?
